Letter to my non-jw mother, and an intro of sorts.

a bit of background: i thought that i was an ex-ex-jw until the latest new light.

i left in my mid teens without being baptised, and my mum left later.

my step-dad and borther stayed in, and are still in.

I feel for you, your mom is stuck in an unhealthy situation & I sincerely hope that letter will help empower her.

I dont have any idea how my family still in the borg will take this "generation change", I'm sure they will swallow it whole and be grateful for the great "spiritual food". I know that I cannot ever reach my mom on these doctrinal issues, she has been a JW since the 1950's (seen all the 1975 crap) and still wholeheartedly believes it all- she is older and getting infirmed now, all she has lived for is the end of this system of things and to see the new system- I cannot reach her & in her delicate state I am not sure if I want to, I think- let her go believing she has done all she can and with the resurrection hope.

It is sad to think of what a waste her life has been, she was once vibrant, witty, a real firecracker....

That is why it is my hope for you that your efforts bring you some good results, good luck to you & keep us posted!

just thought i should share a bit of my story with you all, i'm on this board everyday and can't stop reading.

i was raised as a witness by my mother and grandmother, dad and gramps weren't witnesses.

i was baptized at 15, i believed it was the truth but was still pushed into baptism by my mom, she thought it reflected negativly on her as a mother that i wasn't dipped yet.

Why do I suddenly get stupid when the elders talk to me

does anyone else have the same problem.

when i'm alone, i am constantly thinking about all the clever things i'm going to say if visited by the elders, but when i actually get confronted, these things never come to mind, and i keep spitting out drivel like some dumb idiot.

after they leave, i rethink the conversation, and i'm furious over all the oppotunities i've missed to put them in their place.......damn it!!!!!

thank you for this thread...I need the reminder that the elders are just men and their authority means nothing to me now, and I am entitled to a private life and do not have to talk about anything I do not want to!

I keep getting the phone calls from the KH on sundays & my mom just gave me the message that "Brother Elders wants you to call him". I just said thanks & dropped the subject-

It is obvious by now that I am not calling him back, so the control is lost...what next???

i have seen that statement made over and over again by jws about disfellowshipping.

Your expression is right on- those of us born in and baptized in our early tweens or teens weren't thinking ahead when we made the crucial decision/mistake to get baptized...

So those who assert that we shouldn't whine about the shunning and isolation because "we knew the consequences of disfellowshipping when we got baptized" -have no understanding or empathy & I ignore their callousness

I have been inactive since September 2009, Elders are hunting me at the moment since they are mad I wouldn't sign a paper DAing myself & they think they have evidence now to DF me- but I am trying to avoid as long as possible

i first came on this site around the time we were waiting the my daughters abuser to face justice in crown court , we got no justice (due to lack of evidence) but his other victims had a very small section of the abuse they suffered legally recognised , due to a deal being done with the defence , so we waited 20 months to give evidence just to be dropped at the last minute for a "deal" my by now ex best friend decided to stand by the child rapist !as did some of his family despite him being a disfellowshipped person (he was not disfellowshipped for child abuse ) and they are all jws !

isold my house and left the town i once loved as i couldnt bare to be in the same town as him when he left prison (he did 18 months of a 3 year sentence ) and see his supportive family knocking on doors taliking of truth made me feel like screaming at them "what about my poor girl , wheres your support for her , you hypocrites "my daughter is still very much affected by what happened to her age 13 , sexual, physical and mental abuse over months and months .

but i also have a 6 year old girl who was only 20 months old when i found out and reported the abuse to the police , and the long process started , for the next 20 moths i could think of nothing but giving evidence in court and trying to support my girl who was also terrified of that , my little one was 3 and a half when he was sentenced and i looked back and realised i had hardley taken any notice of her since i found out about my other girls abuse , i had missed out on so much of her best times , learning new words etc , i was too preoccupied .

How did you dispose of all those excess magazines?

we were always told not to throw away literature, so just what did we do with it all?

i know that i would sneak it into the bin for recycling quite regularly.

my parents kept all the magazines for over 20 years in ritz boxes in a cupboard, they all went yellow and smelt wierd.

I used to pile them in the back of my closet & when the pile got to be as tall as me I would sneak into work and shred them in the industrial shreder- I was so afraid someone would see me.

I saw a big pile in the back of my closet a few months back & I scooped them up and slammed them in the dumpster with glee!

I like the birdcage liner idea....

My BF and I watched it- I laughed because I remember those experiences of wearing the new Frocks (yes, with nylons) doing your hair and makeup just so- and circling around the hall ways of the convention centers (in my case, the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit- three levels of hallways to walk endlessly) looking at all the single brothers, and no one would flirt with me

My BF has never been a witness- so I had to describe more details about that, he LOL'd- but shook his head in discust when you related your experience holding hands with a girl and your father asserting that your actions could affect his position as an elder-

No freewill as a jdub, your decisions affect everyone, so don't give Jehovah a "bad name"

We had one question....did camile give that note to her mom, who in turn gave it to your parents- how did they get your note???

i know, i know... some of ya'll are gettin' sick of this "generation" thing... .

but for whatever reason, i had not seen this actual quote from the dc talk (that or had not paid much attention to it until now).

seeing it in print really brought home how desparate they are to try to hang on to 1914 in whatever way they can.

Lol on the "Seriously" (SNL), WTF!! I tried explaining this controversy of the generations teaching to my BF (never a JW) & he just looked at me with a glazed look, as if saying...I have no idea what the hell you're even trying to tell me-

You are all right about those still in, they will lap up all the new "light", vomit it back out, excitedly chattering about how priveleged they are to receive this "light getting brighter and brighter" bullshit, they will regurgitate it back out in WT study comments...patting themselves on the back on how smart they are....

My story and help needed.

i have been posting here and there for a few weeks but never introduced myself.

i will do that now because i really am in bad shape and in need of someone to listen.. i was raised in new york in the projects during the crack boom in the 80's.

my dad was an abusive drunk non believer and my mom dragged us to meetings.

You sound very lost & I wish you would get some professional help, I left the organization about nine months ago now & realize that I cannot be an agonstic or atheist because I believe there is a God and He does care about what I do to worship Him. I pray everyday to be reconciled to Him someday, but the answers as to where to go for worship are not even close to being clear for me now. I think it will take a long time to find a place where I am comfortable worshipping- same for you....

I wish for you to find some peace, you have been through so much, hang in there and please keep posting your thoughts~
